With the good steady weather, the Loch has been fishing well with good catches and lots of big fish. At the point between the North and South reedy bay is holding lots of big fish in the 5lb to 8lb range. Usually, the bigger fish tend to head to the dam area. But not this year. Alex Watson from Largs caught a lovely 6lb 8oz from there last week. Four other fish over the 5lb mark were caught there at the weekend. Alex’s picture will hopefully be on the web site soon. The big sedges are back this year and in huge numbers. Lots of sedges around the bays. That is why we think the big trout are there. A nice big meal for a hungry trout! Daddy’s had good catches as well as sedges and the ever-consistent yellow owl. Hoppers pulled just under the surface on a three-foot midge tip line worked very well also. Small ones no bigger than a size twelve and black. The bibio fly worked great last week. An old fly, but still deadly on its day. We are pleased to say that there are only four boats left for the Scierra Pairs competition at the Loch. If you want to compete at the Loch, you will need to contact Phil Dixon soon to get booked in. We are also pleased to say that we are taking part in the Friendship cup between The Black Loch, Carron valley and Harelaw. Who will come out champion after the three heats? Scott Adams
