The weather has finally improved from last week’s windy conditions, that resulted in 3 lost days, with numerous cancellations. The start to the week was a mixed bag, still cold and raining, with the temperature steadily rising to ensure a warm weekend. The wind was varying from the southwest to directly from the west. The temperature remained steady at around 13- 15 degrees, until a big improvement in the temperature at the weekend. The water clarity remains excellent.

There were 41 boats in the water in the past week, with 72 rods out, 137 fish were kept weighing 332lb, 96 fish were safely returned.

Favourite fly patterns included buzzers, damsels, yellow owl, sedges, the Dry flies were also catching fish when the temperature increased on Friday Saturday & Sunday. Floating lines with midge tip were best. Chris Stonely had a good day returning 14 mostly caught on a sedge.

Regular anglers to the Loch all had good results, with Bobby & Albert returning 13 on Friday, with 1 each at around 10lb.  The usual hot spots were the reedy bay, school bay and the south bank was popular with many anglers. With fish reportedly rising all over the Loch with the warmer weather. The following clubs fished the loch this week with good results, Pentcaitland Angling Club & Falkirk Fly Dressers .On Sunday the National heat for the Sierra Pairs was held at the Loch, unfortunately Phil Dixon was unable to attend, however Dave Avery stood in and did a sterling job in Phil’s absence, well done to the guys that qualified for the next round, we would like to thank Phil Dixon and his team for returning to the Loch , and look forward to them returning next year.

We are seeing an increase in bank fishers and Pike fishers and would welcome more anglers to come along and enjoy the experience. We now have our own catering setup at the Loch, so come along and enjoy a full English breakfast before taking a boat out for a fantastic days sport.
