The weather still hasn’t settled down yet, with rain and windy conditions on Wednesday & Thursday resulting in anglers and clubs cancelling. The weather improved slightly on Friday with a few boats out in the testing conditions, there was a big improvement on Saturday and Sunday where anglers were out in the Loch enjoying the fishing. The temperatures remained steady at around 15 degrees, around average for this time of year. The water clarity remains excellent.
There were 27 boats in the water in the past week, with 44 rods out, 72 fish were kept weighing 205lb, 112 fish were returned.
Favourite fly patterns included buzzers, damsels, CDC, yellow owl, the Dry flies were also catching fish when the temperature increased. Floating lines with midge tip and Di3 lines were producing best results.
Regular anglers to the Loch, Bobby & Albert returned over 40 during a few visits, Colin McIsaac had a good day and returned 14 , Colin Smith kept 4 and returned 4,Archie Fisher kept 3 and returned 10 from banking fishing, the usual hot spots were the reedy bay and the south bank was popular with many anglers. The following clubs fished the loch this week with good results, Carluke Angling Club, Rainbow Angling Club, Broxburn Angling Club.
We are seeing an increase in bank fishers and would welcome more anglers to come along and enjoy the experience.
We are working closely with P.A.A.S and look forward to their members visiting the Loch on a regular basis. A big thanks to Calum & Blair.
