Some of the rises in the Loch are awesome at the moment. We have blue damsels coming off in North reedy bay. The massive long horn sedges are all over the Loch. Their bodies are about an inch long. The natural feeding is awesome in the Loch. If you want to up your catch rate, try and imitate the naturals. Stick with it and you will get the rewards. Floating line fishing hoppers dry, or pulling with a steady retrieve was working well. The ever-consistent yellow owl and the balloon caddis all caught the best bags. You will still catch on snakes and lures fished deep. I understand you thinking the fish will be deep in the middle of summer. Our Loch water is gin clear. Don’t bang about in the boat, present your dry well , the trout will see it and come for it. Then it is fight on. There is surely no better way to catch fish. Forrest bend, North reedy bay and drifting over the sunken Island were the hot spots. We are looking forward to Friday when the Black Loch take on Harelaw and Carron Dam in the Friendship cup. Jimmy from Carron organises this event and has kindly asked the Black Loch to take part this year. The competition will be fished over three consecutive weeks. Next week we are at the Harelaw then the week after Carron. Who will win? We will keep you posted every week. Scott Adams
